Why buildings hold the key to a low-carbon future? The GBPN provides evidence that ambitious improvements in the energy performance of buildings can reduce their CO2 emissions by one third by 2050 and sets out the necessary steps towards a "Deep market transformation".
With the goal of addressing climate concerns through lower carbon use, the GBPN shows that with ambitious improvements in the energy performance of buildings, it is possible to reduce their CO2 emissions by one third by 2050. The technology is there but policy priorities need re-setting and there must be a more concerted effort to learn from and an application of best practice policies to deliver this significant mitigation potential from buildings. This report sets out the necessary steps towards a "Deep market transformation" and opens a new dialogue on the role and importance of improved energy performance of buildings in today’s global and national discussions about energy and climate change policies.
