Retrofitting solutions for draughty UK homes

British houses are among the oldest and less efficient in Europe, hence households are currently challenged by rising energy bills. The government has set a price cap that limits the average bill to no more than £3,000 ($3,600) a year until April 2024. Moreover, it is planning to spend an average cost of around £10,000 for each house that needs to be retrofitted in order to reach the 2035 energy efficiency targets.

 

There is not a single solution that fits all houses because they are quite heterogeneous. However, there are five significant renovations that nearly all householders can make.
