Status of technology development of heat pumps in the EU

The deployment of heat pumps can save energy and money, reduce emissions and increase energy systems more flexible. As energy prices are increasing and policies are targeted to phase out boilers, the deployment of heat pumps is speeding rapidly.

 

Almost 17 millions heat pumps have been installed in Europe by the end of 2021. In parallel, manufacturers are investing to keep up with the high demand and to meet with the REPowerEU targets. However, there is a need to also enhance the availability of trained installers, seminconductor suppliers, and finance.
