This publication "Sustainability by Sweden" presents an overview of some of the Swedish visions, plans and experiences from their work for sustainable cities, in Sweden and in many other parts of the world. Sustainable urban development aims to ensure social, economic, and environmental quality of life for people living in urban areas today and in the years to come.
The increasingly important role of cities is reflected in Swedish national policies.
The Swedish Policy for Global Development aims at coherence in all policy sectors for effective global development and is supporting sustainable urban development with a focus on climate change. The ambition is to raise the standard of urban development initiatives even higher and to stimulate the development of new, good examples that take human settlements further towards sustainability and which can serve as inspiration and sources of knowledge to others.
