This technical guidance document has been published by the Irish Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government under article 7 of the Building Regulations 1997. The document accompanies the Building Regulations (Part L Amendment) Regulations 2011 (S.I. No. 259 of 2011) which amended Part L (Conservation of Fuel and Energy) of the Second Schedule to the Building Regulations 1997 (S.I. No. 497 of 1997). It amends Technical Guidance Document L - Conservation of Fuel and Energy – Dwellings (2011) including a new section on Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEBs).

 

Technical Guidance Document L – Conservation of Fuel and Energy – Dwellings (2017) provides technical guidance on how to comply with the Building Regulations (Part L Amendment) Regulations 2011 in practical terms. This technical guidance took effect on and from 1 December 2011. Where works are carried out in accordance with the relevant technical guidance, such works are considered to be, prima facie, in compliance with the relevant regulation(s).
