The Passive House is the world's leading standard in energy-efficient construction: The energy savings as compared to mandatory new building standards amount to more than 80 per cent. Heating costs for a home are reduced to only ten to 25 Euros per month - high energy prices therefore hardly affect Passive House residents. The space heating demand in a Passive House is less than 15 kWh/(m2a) (with respect to the treated floor area).
The Passive House Institute offers the certificate „Certified Passive House Designer/Consultant“. There are two ways to acquire this certificate:
- Advanced training through seminars, training courses or private study and eventually passing a written exam.
- Presentation of a Quality Approved Passive House construction project, which must be documented and was planned responsibly by the applicant.
