From January 2010 the generation of electricity from renewable energy will be allowed only by using such biomasses (e.g. plant oils), that are produced in a sustainable way. This foresees the sustainanbility decree for the renewable energy ordinance which was adopted at 10th June 2009 by the Federal Cabinet based on the proposal of German Minister for the Environment Sigmar Gabriel. The decree realises within record time an EU requirement from December 2008. The decree has still to be accepted by the German parliament.
