Selection and integration of Renewables in NZEB - Professor Ángel Pérez-Navarro, Universitat Politecnica De Valencia

NZEB should obtain a substantial fraction of their energy consumption from renewable energies. To assure the feasibility of such renewable supply, solutions should be find that takes into account the different types of renewable resources and their integration in a microgrid system that, depending on the possibility to be connected to the grid, could include storage system. In this lesson, a review of the main aspects to be considered in the design of the renewable system for a NZEB will be addressed.

Introduction to economical models and financial aspects of renewable energy technologies in buildings - Professor Patrick Hendrick, Universite Libre de Bruxelles

Models of costs of the different energy systems integrated in the building (including their accessories) will be explained as well as tools to compute their turnaround (NPV, PI, IRR, PayBack Period,...). This will include local storage solutions (of electricity and thermal) and insulation techniques. LCOE will also be explained as well as some revenue mechanisms that can be used from these green energy sources.


Q&A will follow the end of the presentations.



Prof. Ángel Pérez-Navarro is the Head of the Advanced and Renewable Energy Research Group and Director of Master in Energy Technologies for a Sustainable Development at IIE-UPV. He received his BSc and PhD in Physics from the Universidad Complutense in 1968 and 1973, respectively.  Since then, he has been involved in many energy research projects, mainly in renewable energies, energy monitoring in buildings, energy efficiency strategies for energy planning, and load characterization.
Professor Patrick Hendrick is head of the Departement of Aero-Thermo-Mechanics at School of Engineering of ULB in Brussels. He is specialized in renewable energy, rational use of energy and energy storage technologies, more specifically active in micro energy storage in buildings and micro CHP systems. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the EERA (European Energy Research Alliance).
