Internas fuerte Aislamiento Térmico de los Edificios Históricos     RIBuild es un Horizonte de 2020 proyecto de investigación que desarrolla pautas sobre cómo instalar aislamiento térmico interior en edificios históricos, mientras que el mantenimiento de su patrimonio cultural y arquitectónico.   El propósito del proyecto es reducir el consumo de energía en edificios históricos con el fin de satisfacer la UE para 2020 de clima y energía de los objetivos.

People spend up to 90% of their lives indoors, so it is perhaps not surprising that the quality of the environment created has a significant impact on their health and well-being. What is perhaps even more surprising is that the indoor air quality of some buildings, including modern low energy buildings, has been shown to be poorer than urban outdoor air quality.

A range of breakthrough eco-building solutions which tackle the emerging problem of indoor air quality have been presented by the ECO-SEE project at the Ecobuild construction fair in London.   The solutions include novel insulation, coating and panel products which improve air quality by passively regulating humidity, capturing VOCs, and removing indoor organic pollutants through photocatalysis. External and internal wall panels have also been developed, in addition to design tools to support end users.

These guidebooks are good examples of learning how to develop and implement three innovative financing schemes that have been tested by 11 European cities and regions.   Although many cities and regions have engaged into the energy transition, financing sustainable energy measures remains a great challenge. Some project investment costs are high, and covering them by using only municipal budget and traditional financing mechanisms is difficult.
