In their national renewable energy action plans Member States set out the sectoral targets, the technology mix they expect to use, the trajectory they will follow and the measures and reforms they will undertake to overcome the barriers to developing renewable energy. The national renewable energy action plans for all Member States are available here.

In the framework of the IEE-Project TABULA, a harmonized structure of European residential building typologies was created. A web-based tool provides access to this building data and allows calculation of the energy balances. The typologies can be compared between different countries with a simple and transparent reference procedure. In addition to the standard calculation, an adaptation to the typical level of measured consumption provides realistic assessments of energy costs and savings.

Buildings are responsible for around 40% of energy consumption and 36% of the CO2 emissions in the European Union. The European legislation aims to achieve a significant reduction in the energy consumption of buildings, thus helping to combat global warming and strengthen the EU’s energy security. Large energy savings will also enable households to drastically reduce their bills. It is therefore essential that Member States fully apply this legislation.
