El 2016 de Energía Limpia para todos los Europeos paquete de la Comisión de la UE ha reforzado la posición de las políticas de eficiencia energética en la UE de la agenda política. Uno de los tres objetivos fundamentales de estas propuestas es "poner la eficiencia energética de primera", en la UE de energía y clima de las legislaciones.
