The scope of venticool covers as well natural, mechanical and mixed-mode ventilation.
Its ambition is to be THE international meeting point for ventilative cooling related activities.

Decarb City Pipes 2050 - Transition roadmaps to energy efficient, zero-carbon urban heating and cooling
Climate urgency calls on all political levels to act more stringent and faster. This proposal is the first to unite cities across Europe to work out actionable, spatially differentiated transition roadmaps to decarbonise heating and cooling for buildings in 2050, taking up the challenge to phase out natural gas in heating.

Cooling accounts for 10% of global electricity consumption and demand is expected to triple by 2050. Given this context, innovative technical and financial solutions are required to ensure that cleaner and more efficient cooling solutions are adopted. Cooling as a Service (CaaS) is an innovative financial instrument to overcome key market barriers to clean and efficient cooling, without upfront investment, with integrated financial tools to recapitalise technology providers.

This extension to a School of Design & Environment building at the National University of Singapore is an outstanding example of a net zero-energy building (NZEB) in the tropics. The five-storey building is home to labs, design studios and workshops used by the departments of architecture and design. Construction of the building was optimised to facilitate lateral ventilation and comfortable natural light. An integral aspect of net zero-energy consumption is that conventional approaches to air conditioning have to be challenged.

Cooling demand is expected to increase almost 60% by 2030 in Europe. District cooling (DC) can support satisfying this demand in a sustainable way by utilising the most efficient cooling supply options available and distributing the produced cooling to consumers rather than using stand‐alone, often inefficient and poorly maintained distributed systems. This also has the potential to significantly decrease primary energy consumption.

The current development in building energy efficiency towards nZEB buildings represents a number of new challenges to design and construction. One of these major challenges is the increased need for cooling in these highly insulated and airtight buildings, which is not only present in the summer period but also in the shoulder seasons and in offices even in midwinter. Ventilative cooling can be an energy efficient solution to address this cooling challenge in buildings.
