Our “Smart City talks” is a series of 6 webinars that will share the experiences of the Sinfonia pilot cities, exploring best practices and tools for urban energy planning, strategies for citizen engagement and the policy framework. All of it, aspiring to create a sustainable future for citizens and enterprises through the knowledge transfer from experienced actors.

ProjectZero is the vision for creating a ZEROcarbon future for the city Sonderborg in southern Denmark by 2029 based on sustainable growth and with many new green jobs as a result.   The ProjectZero concept is based on energy efficiency combined with renewable energy from the County´s own green sources – all documented in the ProjectZero masterplan.

Historic buildings constitute a considerable share of the European building stock. About 35% of the EU's buildings are over 50 years old, with 26.4% dating from before 1945 [1]. Improving the energy performance of historic buildings (i.e. buildings built before 1945) improves the internal comfort conditions while reducing the energy demand and therefore reduces the risk of fuel poverty.

On 9th March 2020 Eurac research is hosting a workshop at NOI Techpark (Bolzano) within the FESR project INTEGRIDS funded by ERDF/ EFRE/ FESR EU Program of Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen, under the grant n. FESR1042. The main objective of the project is the definition and analysis of energy grids, which must be considered as synergies between thermal and electric grids and as means to allow a broad implementation of renewable energy inside buildings and efficient energy grids.

The farmhouse was built in 1646 in log construction and was home of the painter Angelika Kaufmann. The living part of the house has been restored in 2008 and the affiliated barn was rebuild in 2013. The traditional renovation of the front building was done in the same architectural style as the existing.

The STARDUST project has released a series of short, easy-to-understand videos featuring all of its seven cities namely Pamplona, Tampere, Trento, Cluj-Napoca, Derry, Kozani and Litoměřice. The goal is to invite everyone to dig deeper and partake in its campaign in replicating smart urban solutions across Europe

The Pamplona City Council has recently installed the prototype Plug&Play solar roof on the Municipal Police building to provide energy for self-consumption.   The Pamplona City Council has recently installed a Plug&Play solar roof on the building of the Municipal Police. This is one of the first smart solutions developed within the EU-funded project STARDUST to be implemented in the city.

Norwegian architect Snøhetta has pledged to only design carbon-negative buildings, meaning their projects will generate more energy than they consume over their lifetime. "For the next 10 years, we have the ambition of having projects on the table that will become CO2 negative in the cradle-to-cradle definition," said Kjetil Thorsen (co-founder of Snøhetta) "This means we have to understand the embodied energies and all the materials used."
