El 13 de junio de 2917, del Parlamento Europeo y del Consejo de negociadores acordaron que una nueva, más fuerte, de la a a la G de la escala que muestra la eficiencia energética de los electrodomésticos de la casa debe ser introducido para mantener el ritmo de progreso tecnológico.     Con la nueva escala, los clientes podrán elegir productos más eficientes para reducir el consumo de energía y sus facturas de energía, mientras que los fabricantes se animan a innovar e invertir más energía eficiente de productos.

On May 29, The European Parliament’s committee on industry and energy (ITRE) met to debate on the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). In particular, the discussion converted on the draft position prepared by Bent Bentsen, ITRE’s lead negotiator. The EPBD revision is part of the Clean Energy for All Europeans policy package, released end of 2016 by the European Commission, which is now going under the revision of the European Parliament and the Council.

According to  the Association of the European Heating Industry (EHI) – a wider penetration of efficient heat emitters needs to be an integral part of Europe’s ambition to achieve 30% energy efficiency gains by 2030. Promoting efficient heat emitters can improve the efficiency of heating systems as well as enable renewable heat appliances to find their place in the market. A heating system can run most efficiently, when all its components are designed to work together.

On 28 February 2017, the environment ministers of the European Union reached an agreement in support of the revision of the Emissions Trading System (ETS) Directive for the period after 2020.     The agreement comes after almost two years of discussions in the Council, led since the start of this year by the Maltese presidency, and serves as the basis for negotiations with the European Parliament.
