The EUR 50 million pilot scheme will support financing for students and learners, enterprises investing in the upskilling of their employees, and organisations supplying education and training.

A new EU Regulation on external power supplies aimed at making a range of household appliances more energy efficient - from laptops to electric toothbrushes – enters into force as of 1 April 2020 within the context of EU ecodesign measures. As a result, European consumers will be able to save on their household bills, help reach significant EU-wide energy savings and reduce emissions.

Energy agencies have many important roles through which they can support sustainable energy investments: as facilitators, aggregators or project developers, and therefore are in a unique position to support energy investments in their regions and cities. ManagEnergy uses and enhances this role by raising the skills of energy agencies’ staff on financing and project development, ultimately making them leaders in the energy transition and increasing sustainable energy investments in Europe.

This study, commissioned and supervised by the European Commission’s (EC) Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER), provides technical support to investigate the feasibility of introducing optional building renovation passports (BRPs) in the EU.  In particular, pursuant to Article 19a of the EPBD, this study evaluates the relevance, feasibility and potential impact of BRPs. This work is carried out in close consultation with stakeholders and in collaboration with leading experts, including IFEU and the Shift Project.

As part of the European Green Deal, the Commission will put forward a comprehensive plan to increase the EU’s 2030 climate target in September this year. The plan will propose to increase the EU’s current 2030 target of at least -40% greenhouse gas emission reductions to at least -50% and towards -55%, compared to 1990 emission levels.
