Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) have a great potential to implement energy efficiency measures. They also contribute to the development of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), in particular of solar thermal or biomass.
Currently in Spain, the biomass market is growing very fast. Public administrations are installing biomass boilers in public buildings in cooperation with ESCOs, hence diverting from natural gas and diesel due to their high prices.
However other technologies like solar thermal technologies are very matured, but seem not to be seen as interesting as biomass for these kinds of ESCOs.
What do you think about it? Is it a question of technical feasibility? Or are solar thermal technologies not as reliable as biomass ones?
I look forward to reading your comments!
