Forward-looking public policies could make the difference and lead to sustainable and less polluted urban areas in the coming decades   Turkey’s energy production for urban areas could be 100% based on renewables within 30 years if appropriate public policy is implemented.

Investor Confidence Project (ICP) Europe is developing a suite of building energy renovation roadmaps - Energy Performance Protocols - that aim to reduce transaction costs by assembling existing standards and practices into a consistent and transparent process. These tools then enable a marketplace for building owners, project developers, utilities, public programmes and investors to trade in standardised energy efficiency projects.

On Thursday 22 October 2015, the European Commission, in its monthly package of infringement decisions, requested eleven Member States (Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, and Spain) to ensure the full transposition of the Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU).

TRAINBUD is the second pillar of the BUILD UP Skills Hungary (BUSH 2011-2013) project. Under the European Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU, EU countries should set up an energy efficiency obligation scheme. This scheme requires energy companies to achieve yearly energy savings of 1.5% of annual sales to final consumers.In order to reach this target, companies have to carry out measures which help final consumers improve energy efficiency. This may include improving the heating system in consumers' homes, installing double glazed windows, or better insulating roofs to reduce energy consumption.

Energy efficient renovations of apartment blocks in multi-ownership are difficult to realise, mostly because of difficult decision taking and other legal and financial boundaries. The LEAF Technical Toolkit enables organisations to identify and understand appropriate energy improvements for apartment blocks.
