The Swiss BiPV Competence Centre was created in 2005 within the Institute for Applied Sustainability to the Built Environment (ISAAC).
It aims to combine the competences of the department of Architecture of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) with those of ISAAC offering a new and appropriate approach to photovoltaics for architects.

This database tool aims to boost the BIPV penetration in the building sector, overcoming existing barriers as well as encouraging designers with inspiring examples of BIPV buildings and a quick glance at the current BIPV market.
As part of this initiative, a database collecting products is worked in parallel. These products are categorised in (a) modules, (b) mounting systems and (c) energy systems and can then be filtered by colour, size, transparency, technology type, storage, power conversion, etc.

This atlas is part of the ESPON project Alps 2050 that develops spatial visions and perspectives for the Alpine region towards the year 2050. The spatial perimeter goes beyond the Alps in the morphological sense (which is mostly congruent with the Alpine Convention perimeter) but also considers the Territorial Cooperation Programme Alpine Space and the Macro-regional strategy EUSALP.

The energy balance and planning tool for efficient buildings and refurbishments
The PHPP is an easy to use planning tool for energy efficiency for the use of architects and planning experts. The reliability of the calculation results and ease of use of this planning tool has already been experienced by several thousand users.

The thermal network method is a reliable approach to study the thermal performance of buildings. It is able to simulate the indoor temperature, heating and cooling loads by means of a set of ordinary differential equations. In this work, a 4R3C thermal network has been proposed to study a detached building.

This paper analyses the performance of the Xbee-PRO IEEE 802.15.4 (ZigBee protocol) based Wireless Area Network transmission component for urban environment, as part of the Smart City concept. This embedded solution was designed to provide a wireless networking layer for Machine-2-Machine (M2M) communication.
