The thermal network method is a reliable approach to study the thermal performance of buildings. It is able to simulate the indoor temperature, heating and cooling loads by means of a set of ordinary differential equations. In this work, a 4R3C thermal network has been proposed to study a detached building.

This paper analyses the performance of the Xbee-PRO IEEE 802.15.4 (ZigBee protocol) based Wireless Area Network transmission component for urban environment, as part of the Smart City concept. This embedded solution was designed to provide a wireless networking layer for Machine-2-Machine (M2M) communication.

On the two days, renowned international representatives from practice and research will discuss research, design and manufacturing of high-performance building envelopes. On the first day, international speakers will present innovative examples and visions with focus on implementation and practice. The second day will be dedicated to the results of the COST network, with topics on digital design innovations or novel test methods.

The EU-funded, Horizon 2020 project STUNNING, which promotes knowledge exchange and interaction in the field of energy-efficient building renovation, is conducting a survey on barriers for energy refurbishments to seek out answers and recommendations for the stagnant renovation rate in Europe. Based on the survey’s evaluation, STUNNING will provide insights on the processes that need to take place for the alleviation of the most common obstacles and market failures.
