Energy efficiency technologies and materials

A new smart city EU-funded project, POCITYF, is set to transform our historical and cultural cities into more efficient, healthy, sustainable living environments with "positive energy districts". Led by EDP, the project kicks off on 9 October with 46 partners from 13 countries.

The 5th edition of the Roger Léron Award was concluded on the 9th October 2019 with the Ceremony at the House of the Brussels region (BIP) with the announcement of the winner and celebration of nominees’ achievements. Søren Hermansen was acknowledged as the winner of this 5th edition, while finalists Maria del Rosario Heras Celemín and Josep Puig i Boix shared the second place.

Overall concept The SCORES concept (Figure below) is based on a hybrid system combining effectively and efficiently solutions that harvest electricity and heat from the sun, store electricity, convert electricity into heat, store heat, and manage the energy flows in the building. The following ideas and assumptions are the starting point for the development of this highly inter-disciplinary overall concept:
