The German government published, on May 28, a legislative proposal for the long awaited “Energy in Buildings Act”. The current draft law is not in line with the latest amendments of the EPBD from 2018.   This Policy Brief “Opportunities brought by the EPBD for the German Building Energy Act” shows the benefits of already implementing the most recent amendments of the Directive into national law.

The EIP-SCC has launched a guidance package to help towns and cities move towards a sustainable future. The toolbox is the fruit of many European projects, including REMOURBAN.   In early May the Committee of Regions held a high-level event to launch the Smart city Guidance Package, a roadmap for integrated planning and implementation for Smart City projects.

History   The history of the IEA began with the 1973-1974 Middle East War crisis and its immediate aftermath.   While oil producing countries appeared relatively well organized to utilize their new oil based economic and political power, many OECD countries found themselves inadequately equipped with the information and organization necessary to meet the corresponding challenges.

Concept   PACE, which stands for “Pathway to a Competitive European Fuel Cell micro-Cogeneration market”, is a flagship EU and industry funded project that will deploy more than 2,800 of the next generation Fuel Cell micro-Cogeneration units in 10 European countries by 2021.   The project brings together the five leading European suppliers (BDR Thermea, Bosch, SOLIDpower, Sunfire and Viessmann), and will focus on residential homes and small enterprises.

Concept and Objectives   The main goal of QUEST is to promote investments in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency by identifying and empirically risk-grading factors that influence performance.   QUEST will develop a simple toolkit to evaluate these investments. It may be easily applied to all types of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency investments and covers project design-construction-operation risks.

The 2019 SBE Conference in Cardiff will take place in a city centre location over 2 days on the 24th and 25th September 2019. The conference will include a series of key note speaker presentations, break-out sessions, workshops, a climate change round table debate and limited number of ‘on location’ visits demonstrating best practice.
