CIB is the acronym of the abbreviated French (former) name: "Conseil International du Bâtiment" (in English this is: International Council for Building). In the course of 1998, the abbreviation has been kept but the full name changed into: INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR RESEARCH AND INNOVATION IN BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION

Presenting the new series today in Paris, IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka said, “Governments are missing a great opportunity to save energy. Even the countries that are most proactive on energy efficiency have implemented less than 60% of the IEA energy efficiency recommendations! This shows that although clearly energy efficiency can save energy and CO2 emissions at very little or no cost, barriers remain for governments to put effective policies in place. The Policy Pathway series should help countries overcome these barriers”.

The findings of the Report will complement improvements in energy efficiency that the Government is making through the National Energy Efficiency Strategy and other energy efficiency programs. The recommendations of this report will also be considered as part of the Government’s Energy White Paper process.

The main objectives of the Concerted Action on the RES Directive 2009/28/EC are as follows:Creation of a platform for structured dialogue and exchange of experience and best-practice between Member States regarding the implementation of the RES directive. Facilitate the process of cross learning at the EU level and provide support to an effective implementation of the RES Directive in the Member States. Encourage dialogue between the Member States on common approaches for the effective implementation of particular parts of the RES Directive.
