The EU Sustainable Energy Week 2020 is coming to you live wherever you are!   In an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy amidst the situation surrounding COVID-19, it has been decided that this year’s edition of EUSEW cannot take place on-site, nor in its original large-scale configuration.   Despite this, we want to bring you the best EUSEW possible and are pleased to announce that #EUSEW2020 will take place as a digital event

A new EU Regulation on external power supplies aimed at making a range of household appliances more energy efficient - from laptops to electric toothbrushes – enters into force as of 1 April 2020 within the context of EU ecodesign measures. As a result, European consumers will be able to save on their household bills, help reach significant EU-wide energy savings and reduce emissions.

This study, commissioned and supervised by the European Commission’s (EC) Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER), provides technical support to investigate the feasibility of introducing optional building renovation passports (BRPs) in the EU.  In particular, pursuant to Article 19a of the EPBD, this study evaluates the relevance, feasibility and potential impact of BRPs. This work is carried out in close consultation with stakeholders and in collaboration with leading experts, including IFEU and the Shift Project.

As part of the European Green Deal, the Commission will put forward a comprehensive plan to increase the EU’s 2030 climate target in September this year. The plan will propose to increase the EU’s current 2030 target of at least -40% greenhouse gas emission reductions to at least -50% and towards -55%, compared to 1990 emission levels.

The Enefirst consortium has launched its first publication, which defines the principle of Efficiency First (E1st) in a way to make it operational. The 2.5-year project, funded under the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme for Research and Innovation, seeks to provide decision makers in Europe with concrete policy recommendations based on quantitative analysis and best practice mapping.
