The 5th Consortium meeting of the BIMplement project was held on September 26 and 27 in Vilnius (Lithuania). At the meeting the progress that each partner is making was shared and special information was given on the trainings that have already been started in several of the participating countries, that are: France, the Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania and Spain.

Living labs are user centred initiatives where knowledge production involves individuals or user groups affected by sustainable transitions. The FME Research Centre on Zero Emission Neighbourhoods in Smart Cities (ZEN) has chosen living labs to secure user engagement and as a framework for the organisation of user involvement in pilot projects.

The 5th edition of the Roger Léron Award was concluded on the 9th October 2019 with the Ceremony at the House of the Brussels region (BIP) with the announcement of the winner and celebration of nominees’ achievements. Søren Hermansen was acknowledged as the winner of this 5th edition, while finalists Maria del Rosario Heras Celemín and Josep Puig i Boix shared the second place.

After France, the other chapters of the Construction21 networks have lifted the veil on the winners in their country! A victory that is in fact double, since a qualification for the international phase comes with a national award.    Juries of experts, chosen worldwide and divided into the different categories, now have the difficult task of analysing the finalist projects, in order to ultimately select the winning buildings, districts and infrastructures for the Green Solutions Awards.

Energy consumption is growing rapidly in the Caribbean, both as a result of population growth and the very strong economic growth of the last twenty years. Committed to a sustainable development approach, France must implement strategies to limit energy consumption in these overseas departments, which are characterized by their tropical climate and their tendency to use expensive and polluting air conditioning systems.

In more than 4 billion years, Nature has acquired certain know-how in design. So why not apply it to human productions? This is the essence of biomimetism. Used by scientific research, this know-how is also highly appreciated in architecture. To what extent does Nature have efficient models to teach us in order to limit our energy consumption? Answer in this article following an interview with Nicolas Vernoux-Thélot, architect and founder of the firm In Situ Architecture and designer of the Nianing church.
