The DiGeSPo CSP m-CHP unit will provide electrical power, heating and cooling for single and multiple domestic dwellings and other small commercial, industrial and public buildings. It integrates small scale concentrator optics with moving and tracking components, solar absorbers in the form of evacuated tube collectors, a heat transfer fluid, a Stirling engine with generator, and heating and/or cooling systems.

The municipalities aim to achieve carbon neutrality, i.e. to decrease their greenhouse gas emissions by a minimum of 80 percent from the 2007 level by 2030. One of them has adopted an even more ambitious objective: a 30 percent reduction on the 2007 emissions level by 2012. In 2008, the municipalities participating in the Carbon Neutral Municipalities (Canemu) project  -  Kuhmoinen, Mynämäki, Padasjoki, Parikkala and Uusikaupunki -  took immediate and concrete steps to cut emissions.

Based on DECC’s 2050 Pathways project, the report looks at the UK’s energy policies from the perspective of those people who will have to live with those decisions for their entire adult lives. The report was drafted by young people aged between 16 and 25 who visited power stations, nuclear plants and projects promoting renewable energy sources to investigate the issues at first hand and met with experts, industry, pressure groups and innovators, to look at how we keep the lights on in 2050 while reducing carbon emissions.

Die stark steigende Nachfrage nach Biomasse für die energetische und stoffliche Nutzung in den 27 Ländern der EU ist nicht notwendig mit  rücksichtsloser Ausbeutung entsprechender Ressourcen in Entwicklungsländern verbunden. Der internationale Handel kann – so ein Ergebnis des Workshops des EU Projekts 4Biomass zum Thema "Trade of Biomass in Central Europe" sogar die nachhaltige Produktion unterstützen und damit etwa illegale Abholzung einbremsen.

"The cost to install solar panels has reduced substantially since the Solar Credits mechanism was first announced in December 2008, driven by a strong economy, a high dollar and falling technology costs," Mr Combet said. "In this time, demand for solar installations has also increased rapidly, as the out-of-pocket cost to households has dropped and generous State and Territory feed-in tariffs have provided additional support to households. As a result, the phase out of the Solar Credits multiplier will be brought forward by one year, from:5 to 4 on 1 July 2011;
