The dimensions of the building were calculated to facilitate reductions in energy requirements. Office buildings are customarily 18 m or 20 m deep. Yet daylight effectively penetrates only the first 5 or 6 metres of office space. It was therefore decided that for Green Office® more than half the floors would be no more than 13.5 m deep: 6 m of office space on each facade, with a 1.5 m wide corridor at the centre. On the deeper floors (18.50 m) the central area is occupied by plant rooms, washrooms, tea rooms, etc.).

The office building ENERGYbase has been erected 2007 by the WWFF Business and Service Center GmbH. The building has 10,690 m² of gross floor area and hosts besides offices also laboratories and a university of applied sciences. Due to the exceptional shape of the facade and a wide range of other measures the heating demand of the building (3.87 kWh/m³y) is 72% below the Austrian Building code. The headquarter of the insurance company Allianz Elementar Versicherung AG in Vienna has been built between 1970 and 1979. The building has a gross floor area of about 37,600 m². Between 2004 and 2008 a broad range of measures has been taken to enhance the energy efficiency of the building. The Business Center Lower Austria has been built in 2007 and has a gross floor area of approximately 7000 m². The heating and cooling demand are 66.5 respectively 90% lower than the Lower Austrian Building code. The heating demand is 4.57 kWh/m³y and the cooling demand is 0.1 kWh/m³y. Klima & Co is an Initiative of the German BP and the publishing company Zeitbild under the patronage of Ministry for the Environment. For the second time after 2008 pupils from numerous schools in Germany have developed ideas for energy saving and CO2 emission reduction together with their teachers. The multi-stage award procedure included the presentation of the concepts to a jury of experts from the Öko-Institut, the BUND and a representation of German pupils.
