Public and non residential buildings

This database tool aims to boost the BIPV penetration in the building sector, overcoming existing barriers as well as encouraging designers with inspiring examples of BIPV buildings and a quick glance at the current BIPV market.   As part of this initiative, a database collecting products is worked in parallel. These products are categorised in (a) modules, (b) mounting systems and (c) energy systems and can then be filtered by colour, size, transparency, technology type, storage, power conversion, etc.

FACEcamp project, funded under the Interreg V-A ITA-AUT first call and running from February 2017 to December 2019, aims at strengthening a long-term transnational cooperation among companies and R&I entities in the field of advanced façade systems for healthy, comfortable and energy efficient buildings. FACEcamp goal is to support stakeholders to cope effectively with the facade performances.

ECRES has announced the extension of the deadline for full-text paper submission until 1st May 2019.   ECRES invites to participate at 7th European Conference on Renewable Energy Systems (ECRES2019). The event is going to be organized in Madrid/Spain on 10-12 June 2019 by the local organizers Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universe del Pais Vasco and Gazi University.

The A2PBEER research project focused on “energy efficient retrofitting” methodology for public buildings. Within the context of this project it has been developed an initial systemic energy efficient buildings’ retrofitting methodology for the three demonstration sites with the intention to provide a retrofitting methodology to be replicated into Public Buildings in Europe. This will take advantage of synergies derived from interventions at the district levels.

The Clean Energy for all Europeans policy package led to the revision of several key pieces of legislation related to the renovation of buildings. Most notable was the revision of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) that now sets a clear direction for the full decarbonisation of the European building stock by 2050. By March 2020, Member States must provide their new renovation strategy to the European Commission (new EPBD requirement), first introduced in 2012 by the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).

European Union’s energy targets for 2030 include the transformation of the building stock to Nearly Zero Energy Buildings - nZEBs. NZEBs are characterized by reduced net-energy demand, where most of their energy needs are met by renewable energy sources, especially Photovoltaics. Consequently, in the following years, a considerable amount of intermittent solar generators will be connected in the electrical grid posing new challenges concerning the secure and reliable grid operation.
