The EUA Energy & Environment Platform connects EUA members and partners who are active in energy and environment research, education and innovation and represents universities in EU energy and climate policy, in particular the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan process. It aims to facilitate the full participation of European universities in energy- and environment-related EU programmes and to achieve the creation of the Energy Union and a sustainable energy future for Europe.

The current scope and ambition of buildings sector commitments are insufficient to meet the Paris Agreement goals. Despite 136 countries having acknowledged the need for building sector actions in their NDCs, more work is needed to increase the coverage and ambition of these actions.

EU rules on energy taxation no longer deliver the same positive contribution as when they first came into force in 2003, according to a new report published by Commission services on 12 September 2019.
While the evaluation of the Energy Taxation Directive (ETD) does not make any policy recommendations, it explores how more environmentally friendly policies could better support the EU’s wider climate change commitments.

This Deliverable has been prepared under Work Package 2 (Formulating recommendations on national energy policy priorities for 2050 and fostering multi – level cooperation and governance). It provides information about national long-term energy and climate policy priorities, indicates bottom-up recommendations on targets, priorities and actions for 2050 and sets recommendations for multi - level governance improvements in each project country.
