The former fire station is a listed building, which was built in 1926 by architect Franz Baumgartner in the style of the architecture at the lake Wörther See. It is now used as a music school. The building is characterised by its strongly articulated gates on the main street façade. The large roof area is broken up by an enormous front gable. The building comprises two full floors, an attic, a partial basement and a turret room. The market town of Velden am Wörthersee implemented a comprehensive thermal-energetic renovation of the building.

As part of Finland’s centenary celebrations, Helsinki is now home to Oodi. It is a magnificent hybrid wooden construction and landmark that serves to refresh the city’s library services for 150 years to come.
The centrepiece of the library, which will serve as a flexible open public space for an estimated 10,000 daily visitors, is a gigantic wooden bridge structure that extends out towards the Finnish Parliament across the Citizens’ Square.

The multi-family house from the turn of the century was saved from demolition and extensively renovated. 6 apartments were set up with the latest technology and low energy consumption. The usable building fabric was carefully renovated and new elements added accordingly.
