Financing energy refurbishment in social housing through energy performance contracting? The FRESH project

Share this Post:
These slides give an overview of the work carried out in the FRESH project (Intelligent Energy Europe, 2009-2012). It explains how energy performance contracting (EPC) can be used for low energy refurbishment in social housing, in the view of the EU's 2020 goals and the 75% reduction of greenhouse gases emissions by 2050. FRESH aims to test the use of EPC's for comprehensive refurbishment, i.e. including investments on the building envelope, in France, UK, Italy and Bulgaria. In particular, third party financing is investigated as a promising option to bring new sources of funding for energy retrofit.
