Passive Solar Design - Netley Abbey Infant School

Share this Post:
This Case Study explains how Netley Abbey Infant School was designed to replace two Victorian buildings. It was considered as a test bed where passive solar design could be investigated as a complimentary strategy to conventional energy-saving measures. An unheated conservatory contributes to both the heating and ventilation requirements of the teaching areas and high levels of insulation make a significant contribution to energy saving. The design achieved a solar contribution of 40% to the space heating energy but was less successful in ventilation the building.
