The Swiss enterprise ECOCELL has received the renowned Green Tec Award in the category “Building and Living”. ECOCELL is a building system that consists mainly of waste-paper and does not include concrete, grit or sand. The system is suitable for the accommodation of refugees and emergency relief. It allows for an earthquake-proof erection of accommodations. The award ceremony took place in the German Building Ministry. Federal undersecretary of state Adler pointed out that the system is resource efficient and can be quickly and cost-efficiently assembled.

Das schweizerische Unternehmen ECOCELL AG hat am 12.5.2016 den renommierten Green Tec Award in der Kategorie „Bauen und Wohnen“ erhalten. ECOCELL hat ein überwiegend aus Altpapier bestehendes Bausystem entwickelt, das auf Beton, Kies und Sand verzichtet. Das System ist geeignet für die Unterbringung von Flüchtlingen und die Katastrophenhilfe. Es ermöglicht einen erdbebensicheren Aufbau von Unterkünften. Der Preis wurde im deutschen Bundesbauministerium verliehen.

On 19 April 2016, the Active House Alliance announced the official launch of the 2016 Active House Award Contest. Professional house builders, developers and architects are invited to submit their project on sustainable buildings. This will be evaluated based on the Active House vision; the winner will be awarded with an Active House label.

The German energy agency dena is rewarding home owners for their interesting energy-efficient refurbishment stories. The “Refurbishment Heroes” competition is running until 29 February 2016 and includes awards of over € 20,000 for the winners. Applications and eligibility requirements are available at www.sanierungshelden.de. Topics and content of the stories are not limited, however they have to be true and linked to energy-efficient refurbishment.
