The activities of the ENERJ project aim at supporting local governments in achieving energy efficiency targets in their own municipal building stock through joint actions in a multi-level governance approach. Joint actions are intended as multiple local authorities joining forces for implementing their energy retrofit goals at centralised level, optimising resources and boosting effectiveness.

Oslo and Heidelberg join 23 other cities committed to C40’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Declaration.   On 17th September in London (UK), The Governing Mayor of Oslo, Raymond Johansen, and Lord Mayor of Heidelberg Eckart Würzner, committed to significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions from their cities by ensuring that new buildings operate at net zero carbon by 2030.

The Project District heating (DH) systems are one of the most energy efficient heating systems to deliver heat in urban environments, with proven reliability within many decades already. DHs are also identified as key systems to achieve the de-carbonization of heating energy in European Cities. Renewable and waste heat sources are foreseen at the same time as de-carbonized heat sources and the way to guarantee competitive energy costs with limited influence of fossil fuel supply price volatility.
