This presentation from the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia offers a detailed overview of the transposition of the EPBD recast in this country (status September 2013).A new law on the Energy Performance of Buildings (LEPB) was adopted on 6 December 2012 and has been in force since 9 January 2013. The Building Technical Regulation shall be applied for assessment of energy efficiency of heated residential and non-residential buildings and for certification of the energy performance of buildings. The Regulation was first published December 20, 2005 and was last amended in August 21, 2012 by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania.

The Lithuanian Law on Construction was first published on March 3, 1996 and last amended on June 27, 2013 by the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania (Seimas).

High levels of energy efficiency are all the more important when it comes to high-rise buildings. For the first time ever, an office tower in Vienna has achieved the Passive House Standard. The certificate was presented by Susanne Theumer of the Passive House Institute on the 20th floor of the building with a prime view of the old city. The glazed facade of the building on the bank of the Donaukanal ("Danube Canal") rises almost 80 metres high.
