People are gaining knowledge every day, and this happens always and everywhere. Every experience gained leads to new skills, knowledge and / or competence.   Although learning usually takes place through formal education, which is always organized, planned and with clearly defined goals, much of the knowledge is acquired through non-formal or informal education. Informal knowledge is often equated with the experience gained from everyday life.

Building renovation is often considered a burden usually associated with time-consuming planning, uncertainty about the costs and value of the planned measures, dust and unreliable professionals.   The iBRoad project focuses on an evolution of existing energy audit products and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) in order to become a real driver for deep renovations.

The main goal of the EU Horizon 2020 project CoNZEBs was to identify technology combinations for multi-family houses that fulfil the Nearly Zero-Energy Building (NZEB) requirements but result in lower investment costs if compared to the typical (mainstream) NZEB technology combinations.

Aerogels are open-porous, high-performance thermal insulation materials that can be used for very thinbuilding insulation. So far, the application conditions of these materials and their potential in heritagebuildings have not yet been described comprehensively. This review shows the technical properties ofcommercially available aerogel materials – such as blankets, boards and renders – and their use scenariosin heritage buildings, taking into account the heritage criteria of authenticity, integrity, reversibility andcompatibility.
