Implementing Rapid and Dramatic Carbon Reductions in the Global Built Environment   Over the next 4 decades, the world is projected to construct 230 billion square meters (2.5 trillion square feet) of buildings, an area roughly equal to the current worldwide building stock, or the equivalent of adding another New York City to the planet every 34 days.

With an ambitious EU Green Deal on the table, providing secure, affordable and low carbon energy stays high on the priority list of local authorities to increase air quality and reach their energy and climate targets in 2030 and establish new ones by 2050. With heating and cooling (H&C) responsible for 50% of the final energy demand in Europe, decarbonisation of the sector will be crucial to reach those targets.

The aim of the event is two-fold – firstly, to present the analysis and findings of the Level(s) test phase; and, secondly, to further engage with testers, test co-ordinators and stakeholders more widely from the building sector on how to revise Level(s) and ensure its success. The Commission aims to release the final publication version in the summer of 2020, so your continuous participation in this process will be very important.

BIM4EEB is a European funded project that aims to develop a BIM-based toolkit for energy-efficient building renovation. The project has just completed the first year of activities in full steam. Along the year, project partners have run surveys, interviews, conducted researches and are now strongly engaged in the development of the BIM4EEB platform and the Building Information Modelling (BIM) toolkit.

The first Work Package (WP1) of the Horizon 2020 project BIM4Ren has been concluded. The main milestone achieved at this stage is the completion of the definition of the “Overall framework for a digital driven Integrated Design and Delivery Solutions (IDDS) ready BIM based renovation process”. This framework also covers the specifications developed for the integration of tools & services in the BIM4REN digitalized renovation workflows.
