Campaigning and awareness raising

The project Keep Cool II proposes different actions to achieve this goal. For this it is divided in two phases. The first one provides analysis and technical tools to overcome the most important barriers by introducing sustainable summer comfort. The second phase is addressing existing networks and policy makers on national and European level by providing them information materials with good practice examples designed especially for the target groups. It will accompanied by dissemination campaigns.

Some € 56 million will be made available, supporting up to 75% of the eligible project costs. Any public or private organisation from the EU, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Croatia can apply. Only online applications are possible. Deadline for submission is 24th June, 17:00 local Brussels' time. Applying for IEE funding is a highly competitive process. Your project proposal must be of a high professional quality to have a reasonable chance of being selected for funding.

Commenting on the Forum launch, Mr. Tom Vereijken – EPE President and Director Water at Grontmij said: "The Forum is a platform which enables the integration of expertise to accelerate the implementation of the estimated 38% cost-effective savings potential in existing buildings by 2020. The Forum will also help member States to coherently implement relevant EU buildings legislation at national level. The Forum will enable front-runners to get successful “bottom up” initiatives into the mainstream.

Commissioner Oettinger will kick of the event today, 23 March, with an opening speech "Europe 2015 and beyond". The European Sustainable Energy Week running from 22 to 26 March 2010, will feature nearly 90 events in Brussels and some 270 energy days across 28 European countries. The CA EPBD (2007 – 2010) is organized around 5 Core Themes (CTs): Certification of Buildings, Inspections of Boilers and AC systems, Training of Experts, Procedures for Characterization of Energy Performance, and Information Campaigns. Since its launch in December 2007, it has organized four major meetings between Member States (MS) representatives, with intensive preparatory work in between.
