Statistically, 40 percent of energy consumption and 36 percent of emissions come from buildings.   Although this has prompted energy efficiency to become one of the EU’s top priorities and led the EU to acknowledge that buildings are key to achieving its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80-95 percent by 2050, it is not always easy to encourage deep renovation.

After having reduced their energy consumption by 12% between 2004 and 2015, the RATP renewed its engagement to reduce energy consumption by obtaining the ISO 50001 certification in 2017, setting a new objective of -20% between 2015-2025.

Concept   HousEEnvest aims to demonstrate the viability of the financing scheme, defined for the full energy renovation of multifamily houses in Extremadura, which will count on a combination of innovative tools for standardization, pooling, bundling and de-risking.   This investment financing scheme focuses on a regional market with investment higher than 35 M€.

SSPCR 2019 aims to answer the question on how can we maximize the impact of academic research, the scaling-up and replicability opportunities of pilot projects, and the added value of local bottom-up initiatives, in relation to complex challenges posed by the smart city/region approach?   Therefore, building projects that wish to put their work in a larger (urban or regional scale) will find in this conference the right audience.
