REDay 2019 will kick-off with a moderated debate, taking place on Tuesday, 8 October, from 16:00-18:00, in 6Q1, JAN Building, European Parliament, hosted by MEP Pernille Weiss (EPP, Denmark).   Speakers at this moderated debate will share their expertise and learning in the field of energy renovation and prove that deep energy renovation really is already all around us. While energy efficiency via retrofitting old buildings and giving more control to citizens over their energy demand are part of the Cologne project, just as they are in many other European cities, the CO2 emissions produced by urban traffic are also a major headache.    Cologne has identified four possible solutions that, when implemented, should reduce traffic emissions by a targeted 60%:

In the 2050 EU Energy Strategy, the EU has set a long-term goal for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 80-95% when compared to 1990 levels, in line with the efforts of the Paris Agreement to limit the temperature increase to 1.5° above pre-industrial levels.
