Within the 2030 climate and energy framework, the European Union (EU) has committed to several key targets for 2021-2030. The overall target for 2030 is to cut the energy system greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 40% as compared to the 1990 levels. Furthermore, the Renewable Energy Directive requires a binding minimum share of 32% of renewable energy for final energy use as EU-average.  The Energy Efficiency Directive sets an indicative target of at least 32.5% improvement in energy efficiency by 2030 at EU level versus the projections.

The Biophilic Map is a databank for case studies which have implemented Biophilic Design at the core of their design process. Biophilic Design is known for its effects of indoor environmental quality and therefore on building users wellbeing.   The map recognizes exemplary projects in articulating and applying Biophilic Design principles to the built environment. The Biophilic Map is hosted by the International Living Future Institute’s Biophilic Design Initiative.

In a letter sent to housing secretary Robert Jenrick, Khan points out that the proposed Future Homes Standard sets carbon reduction targets 25% lower than those detailed in the 2016 London plan. The Future Homes Standard is currently under consultation and is due to come into effect in the latter half of 2020, covering England only.

The 22nd of January the ALDREN project organised an event in the European parliament with the support and participation of several Members of the European Parliament (MEP), hosted by MEP Ljudmila Novak, and the European Commission, on the topic “ALDREN Alliance for Deep RENovation in buildings: encouraging investments and accelerating the movement towards a nearly zero-energy non-residential building stock”.
