Nel realizzare case che consumano meno, o che addirittura producono più energia di quanta ne consumano, sono diverse le variabili da tenere in conto. Per dirne alcune: bisogna capire le tecnologie a disposizione sul mercato, il loro costo e la loro accessibilità, l’ambiente e il clima. Ma c’è un altro aspetto che spesso viene trascurato: come si comporta chi usa l’edificio, da quale cultura proviene e quali abitudini ha?

Europeans spend approximately 90 % of their time in buildings. Living indoors requires energy to maintain the right temperature, to cook and to use electrical appliances. In fact, energy is expected to guarantee a healthy and comfortable environment. Of all the sectors in Europe, the building sector consumes the most energy, and thus emits the most CO2. As a result, policymakers have made buildings a priority in the EU energy policy agenda.

The current scope and ambition of buildings sector commitments are insufficient to meet the Paris Agreement goals. Despite 136 countries having acknowledged the need for building sector actions in their NDCs, more work is needed to increase the coverage and ambition of these actions.

This detached house represents the designer’s ambition to make this type of housing accessible to all and thus drastically reduce pollution related to buildings. The house is 100% autonomous thanks to its field of 96 m² bifacial photovoltaic panels (sized for two buildings) and its battery park. Production of photovoltaic panels = 19.2 kW peak battery storage capacity 15 kW. Here are the peculiarities of this house:

The CoNZEBs project formed the main part of a session at the IAQVEC conference in Bari in September 2019. CoNZEBs project partner held in total 6 presentations including a project overview, different project results and one of the national exemplary NZEB buildings presented in the end-user brochure. The papers are published as open source documents in IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 609.
