The seventeenth  session of the Conference of the Parties to the Climate Change Convention(COP 17), in conjunction with the seventh meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 7), will be meeting in Durban, South Africa from 28 November to 9 December 2011. This volume of  “Highlights”, drawn from the full-scale study, was specially designed for delegations and observers of the meeting in Durban.

Presenting the new series today in Paris, IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka said, “Governments are missing a great opportunity to save energy. Even the countries that are most proactive on energy efficiency have implemented less than 60% of the IEA energy efficiency recommendations! This shows that although clearly energy efficiency can save energy and CO2 emissions at very little or no cost, barriers remain for governments to put effective policies in place. The Policy Pathway series should help countries overcome these barriers”.
