With a total of 18 topics in these priority areas, the work programme features a new focus on "Buildings in energy transition", highlighting how decarbonisation of buildings constitute the major challenge of the next decade. At the same time, it continues to focus on digital and smart technologies and innovative financing for energy efficiency as well as supporting public authorities and  ensuring the active involvement of consumers in the energy transition.

New Circular Economy Business Model for More Sustainable Urban Construction The EU-28 total waste generation in 2014 was 2598M tones, the highest since 2004, 33.5% of which was from the construction sector, being also one of the larger consumers of inorganic raw materials. Construction activities are mainly localized in urban areas where by 2050 about 86% of the developed world is expected to live.

The first webinar has been recorded on May 16th, 2019 and it was followed by more than 100 people. The webinar presented the preliminary results of the GEOENVI project, which is working since November 2018. It has also been open to inputs and questions by participants, which were welcome to provide their perspective or comment on the methodology of the project.   Presentations:

The GEOENVI project aims at answering environmental concerns in terms of both impacts and risks, by first setting an adapted methodology for assessing environment impacts to the project developers, and by assessing the environmental impacts and risks of geothermal projects operational or in development in Europe. The project will propose recommendations on harmonised European environmental regulations to the decision-makers and elaborate simplified LCA models to assess environmental impacts.
