Build a fully recycled house? Yes, you can with RE4 prefabricated building elements incorporating up to 100% of construction demolition waste! RE4 is a H2020 project which after 4 years has developed and tested on three demo sites in Europe and one demo in Taiwan, an energy efficient prefabricated elements for building refurbishment and construction, including an innovative mobile robotic sorting system. Now the project is at its end and would like to share the outcomes during the four consecutive webinars.

The legislation requires all large enterprises based in the European Union - with at least 250 employees, or annual revenues over €50 million and an annual balance sheet of over €43 million - to comply with the national energy audit obligation, including calculating their total energy consumption and identifying saving opportunities across their estate, every four years.

What does the transition towards lowcarbon building stock mean for Europe?   European building stock is responsible for around a third of CO2 emissions, and the EU has set a target of 20 % reduction by 2020 and 60 % by 2030, from a 1990 baseline. Meeting these targets means focusing on decarbonising the power supply and making concerted efforts to reduce energy demand through retrofits of existing stock.

Europeans spend approximately 90 % of their time in buildings. Living indoors requires energy to maintain the right temperature, to cook and to use electrical appliances. In fact, energy is expected to guarantee a healthy and comfortable environment. Of all the sectors in Europe, the building sector consumes the most energy, and thus emits the most CO2. As a result, policymakers have made buildings a priority in the EU energy policy agenda.
