Representatives of the building industry, public authorities and the vocational training sector of 21 European countries have teamed up under the BUILD UP SKILLS initiative, a specific funding opportunity running from 2011 to 2013 under the Intelligent Energy Europe programme to provide energy training for the building workforce.

During the next 18 months, they will establish national platforms to determine skill needs and training gaps for the building sector and provide strategic recommendations for qualification measures in national roadmaps.

European exchange activities will ensure best practices are effectively spread among countries. A first BUILD UP SKILLS contractors meeting took place in Brussels on 23-25 November. All presentations are available on the IEE website.

A new call for proposals for the BUILD UP Skills initiative has been launched for countries where no project is currently running (CZ, FR, EL, HR, IS, LI, LU, LT, MK, MT, SK). The deadline for submitting a proposal will be 9 February 2012, 17:00 Brussels time. More information is available on the IEE website.
