Studentisches Wohnen in Niedrigenergie- und Passivhäusern

The student residences "Neue Burse" in Wuppertal, as well as the "Bildungsherberge" of the distance university in Hagen have been realised according to the passive house concept, as retrofit (Wuppertal) or new building respectively (Hagen). The often poor indoor air quality in standard residences, caused by high occupancy density, irregular user-presence and wrong ventilation behaviour have been effectively improved by the use of the ventilation systems. At the same time the primary energy demands were drastically reduced to about 70 to 80 kWh/m²a. Problems remain in the control of the central air-heating-system for maximum benefit.
