This page of the ENERGY STAR website provides all the documents describing the requirements and manufacturer commitments for the certification of connected thermostats. Smart thermostats were added to the ENERGY STAR certification programme in January 2017. In order to get the certificate, manufacturers are required to provide heating and cooling data from at least 1,000 homes collected for over a year from across the United States. A minimum threshold of energy savings has to be met compared to a baseline home, i.e.

On Friday, Manitoba’s Government published its proposed Climate and Green Plan outlining its 2018-2022 strategy to fight climate change, including a contentious carbon pricing policy at $25 per tonne. ATLANTA – The 2017 edition of ASHRAE’s major thermal comfort standard has been published to incorporate seven published addenda to the 2013 edition.   ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 55-2017, Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy, simplifies the language of the 2013 standard and clarifies the three comfort calculation approaches in Section 5.3.3, "Elevated Air Speed." The 2017 edition includes a new requirement to calculate the change in occupants' thermal comfort from direct solar radiation.
