La zone climatique chaude considérée dans le cadre de ce dossier correspond peu ou prou aux régions du monde dont le climat est, au sens de la classification de Köppen, un climat soit équatorial, soit de mousson, soit de savane, soit désertique chaud, soit semi-aride chaud.
Ce choix de périmètre tient en premier lieu au fait que les régions chaudes concentrent une importante part de la population mondiale :

In the 2050 EU Energy Strategy, the EU has set a long-term goal for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 80-95% when compared to 1990 levels, in line with the efforts of the Paris Agreement to limit the temperature increase to 1.5° above pre-industrial levels. In order to achieve this ambitious goals, public authorities at all levels need the technical know-how and resources to develop long-term climate and energy actions.

Next October 2019, the 23rd International Passive House Conference will take place for the first time outside Europe, in Gaobeidian, China. Before that, in May this year the passive-house pioneering city of Heidelberg hosted the Better Building!
