This 600 square-metre plot was used to erect a new service centre that would not only encompass a bank branch but also consultation rooms for customers and staff. Overall the building spans a total usable floor area of 1800 square metres. The energy consultant used dynamic computer simulations and local climate records to design the building and select materials.

The renewable energy sector added 176 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity globally in 2019, marginally lower than the (revised) 179 GW added in 2018. However, new renewable power accounted for 72 per cent of all power expansion last year, according to new data released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

Renewables’ share of total clean energy generation in Europe topped 60% for the first time in the first three months of the year.   That was a standout statistic in the latest quarterly report on the European power generation market from energy data analyst EnAppSys, which also found that the impact of COVID-19 triggered a steep fall in demand and prices in the last two months of the quarter.
