EPBD - Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (2010/31/EU)

The European Copper Institute (ECI), the International Federation for the Safety of Electricity Users (FISUEL) and the European Electrical Contractors Association (AIE) welcome the European Commission’s effort to draft a guidance document on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive with regards to the transposition of the provisions on fire safety.

On Tuesday 19 December 2017, the Estonian presidency reached a provisional agreement with the European Parliament on a revised directive on the energy performance of buildings. The outcome of the trilogue will be presented to EU ambassadors on December 20, with the final analysis and approval of the agreement expected to take place at the beginning of 2018.

eceee press release, 30 November 2017: The European council for an energy efficient economy (eceee) believes that energy efficiency first means that energy needs should be reduced as far as possible in order to avoid wasting energy from any source, including precious renewables. eceee now publishes an updated technical note on the EPBD Annex I, where these issues are defined.

We are at a turning point in the road towards a homogenous energy efficiency market. However, the goal is not yet achieved. The future of EPB standards is in the hands of all energy efficiency stakeholders.

European NGOs and efficiency stakeholders applaud the 11 October 2017 vote of the Industry, Transport and Research (ITRE) Committee of the European Parliament in favour of stronger European building regulations. The final report adopted significantly improves the Commission’s proposal and counterbalances the weak General Approach of the Energy Council, according to the NGOs.
